Frustrated by poor cell phone coverage in Celebration? A cell phone tower added several years ago in Celebration Town Center helped some residents, but it still left many without satisfactory reception. After years of complaining by these residents, something may finally be done. But not unless we all take action NOW.
CCDD member Lee Moore has been working behind the scenes with the Celebration Company on potential alternatives for adding cell phone towers at various locations around town. But one by one they have been eliminated from consideration for one reason or another. Said Moore after a recent CCDD meeting, “We are down to the last potential location, well-hidden from view behind Celebration High School. It’s actually a good site, not only to improve coverage, but also to generate revenue for the school.”
The High School location has widespread support, including from the school principal, a tower company, and at least one leading cell phone company.
The next step would ordinarily be what is called a balloon test to evaluate effectiveness. But Moore is reluctant to proceed with the trouble and expense unless The Celebration Company (TCC) also agrees to support it. TCC reportedly has the power to veto any location.
That’s where YOU can help. It is important that as many residents as possible express the need for cell phone coverage improvement action immediately. If you agree, contact Matt Kelly, President of the Celebration Company, at 407-566-1982 or at
